“Bob would always say, ‘I love you,'” Young recalls in tears. “Like I’m his child. I haven’t felt anything like this since my father passed away. He was like a father figure to me. He was my mentor.… We just laughed. He told me that his show in Orlando had gone well. And he was so excited to do Jacksonville. And he couldn’t wait to get to West Palm Beach. But the last time we spoke he said, “I love you. , mate. “That’s how he ended every conversation.”

Young and Saget first met on the set of “Entourage” thanks to a mutual friend about 11 years ago.

“I was already on tour as a comedian, and Bob was like, ‘I have a few dates you could do,’” Young said. “We ended up visiting almost every club in the country every weekend. We became more than best friends – we were like brothers. It was such an open book of love. Bob was the dude that got it. took care of everything. Flights were always picked up. from; hotels were always booked. Bob made sure restaurants would be open and feed us after a show – he just looked after everyone on the road. “

Young shared that Saget was excited to return to his stand-up roots. At the time of his death, Saget was in Florida as part of his “I Don’t Do Negative Comedy Tour”. After warm receptions from the public at his concerts Friday in Orlando and Saturday at the resort town of Ponte Vedra Beach, he celebrated online.

“I’m back in comedy like I was when I was 26. Guess I’m finding my new voice and loving every moment,” Saget posted on Instagram on Saturday.

Young stressed that all Saget wanted to do was “make people happy.”

“He was a guy who didn’t have to go on the road every week,” he explained. “But he did. It surprised me that he wanted to be there to make people laugh because he could easily have taken a few months off. He’s been on TV for about 40 years. So it surprised me how hard he worked, but how efficiently he worked. He always made sure everything at the club was perfect. He didn’t let go at all. Young said there was a lot of laughter between the two, especially when they were on the road.

“We would drive back from Jersey to New York at one in the morning once, and Bob didn’t trust the drivers,” Young said. “So he wanted to act out of a concert. We parked behind a dumpster in a dodgy neighborhood. Bob must have used the bathroom so badly before he got to the tunnel. I said, ‘Bob, I don’t. don’t know if that’s a good idea. He pulls behind the dumpster to go to the bathroom. And within three seconds, a car full of what looked to me to be gang members came out of the car. I’m like, “We’re about to be robbed in Jersey City.” “

“After a terrible flight, I had what I thought was a bad back cramp,” Young said. “He said to me, ‘Get down on the ground. I know how to deal with cramps. Do not worry. “He put his knuckle on my ribs, and all of a sudden the pain I was having passed to the other side of my body. So he said, ‘Let’s go to the hospital.’ to be a blood clot. So Bob Saget saved my life. But he almost killed me by sending it to the other side of my lung when he put his knuckle in it.

Young shared that Saget is excited to keep busy in the New Year and has already planned plenty of tour dates, as well as other projects in the works.

“The irony is that the day this broke I was on the phone with 20 people who were all excited to come to the show in West Palm,” he said. “It’s surreal that I’m even talking about losing someone who was like a brother to me.”

Young has said he hopes fans will remember Saget for his comedic talent, as well as his kindness.

“I wish people knew the real Bob because he was even nicer than the Bob from TV,” Young said. “He loved his daughters beyond belief. Everything revolved around his daughters.… He was a family member and a true friend. I miss him now and always.”

Saget played the spotlessly clean Patriarch in “Full House” from 1987 to 1995. He reprized his role for the Netflix reboot “Fuller House,” which ran from 2016 to 2020.
