Committee 1/6 dropped the hammer on Kevin McCarthy

The 1/6 Committee doesn’t just want information from House Minority Leader McCarthy on his actions at 1/6 and before. They also want to talk to him about what he did after the attack.

Committee 1/6 has important questions for Kevin McCarthy

According to a press release from Committee 1/6:

Representative McCarthy was said to have been in communication with White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in the days leading up to January 6. President Thompson wrote in his letter: “We also need to learn how the President’s plans for January 6 came together and all the other ways he tried to alter the election results. For example, before January 6, you would have explained to Mark Meadows and the former president that objections to the certification of electoral votes on January 6 “were doomed to failure.”

President Thompson pointed to various public accounts detailing Representative McCarthy’s communication with the former President in which Representative McCarthy allegedly encouraged the former President to take action to stop the January 6 riot. “You admitted speaking directly with the former president while the violence was ongoing on January 6,” President Thompson wrote.

In addition, President Thompson requested information on reports that Representative McCarthy said the former president admitted to his own guilt in the January 6 violence. President Thompson wrote: “Additionally, you shared an account of your communications with President Trump with a local media outlet in your district, which reported that you had a ‘very heated conversation’ with the President while l riot was unfolding, and urged the President to “get help” on Capitol Hill. Many similar reports appear from January 6 from a number of other news outlets. And, in addition to all of those published accounts – each of which seem consistent with your public statements at the time – Politico reported that you shared an even greater degree of detail with your colleagues on a conference call that was participated on January 11. On that call, according to the report, you said that President Trump admitted “a certain degree of responsibility for January 6 in his one-on-one conversations with you.”

The select committee is also seeking information relating to Representative McCarthy’s actions following the January 6 riot. President Thompson wrote: “The select committee is aware that, despite the unacceptable violence that day, you nevertheless agreed to support the continued objections to the electoral votes of several states late in the evening of January 6 and until the morning. from January 7. The select committee would like to ask you about any communications you may have had with President Trump, President Trump’s legal team, Representative Jordan and others at the time on this matter.

The select committee’s investigation also identified Representative McCarthy as potentially having information about the former president’s state of mind and decisions inside the White House in the aftermath of January 6. President Thompson wrote: “It appears that you had one or more conversations with the President during this period, including a conversation on or around January 11…. It appears you’ve also discussed with President Trump the possibility that he may face a resolution of censure, impeachment, or dismissal under the 25th Amendment. It also appears you’ve identified other possible options, including President Trump’s immediate resignation from office. “

Kevin McCarthy was more involved in the plot than he revealed

President Thompson asked a very important question. Why did Kevin McCarthy continue to support the coup plot after the 1/6 attack?

McCarthy has remained in communication with Trump after the attack, and the Minority Leader seems almost terrified that investigators will get his phone records.

Sidney Powell has said McCarthy is leading the House plot to overturn the election by blocking the certification of Joe Biden’s victory. McCarthy’s behavior as Trump’s puppet may be guided by more than his desire to be the next Speaker of the House.

Kevin McCarthy could cover Trump to save his own skin.
