A mother in Texas has been accused of putting her 13-year-old son in the trunk of her car after testing positive for coronavirus.
Sarah Beam has been charged with endangering a child after authorities discovered her on January 3.
The 41-year-old had driven his teenage daughter into a COVID-19[female[feminine test site in Houston to confirm he was infected.
Beam reportedly told officials that she put her son in the boot so she wouldn’t be exposed to the virus.
The boy was discovered inside without any safety restraint, but was not injured.
An official informed the mother that her son would not be tested for coronavirus until moved to the backseat of the car – then let the police know.
The boy was in the backseat by the time she returned, and surveillance footage shows the child exiting the trunk and entering the car.
Beam, who had worked as a teacher in the Cypress-Fairbanks School District for 10 years, had been placed on administrative leave.
