Judge Judy Sheindlin funds school fees for 10 women in her alma mater

Justice Judy Sheindlin gives back to women attending the same law school where she graduated decades ago.

The famous television judge graduated from New York Law School in 1965. Today, following her immense success, she gives back to the college community that made her famous to the tune of approximately $ 5 million.

The 79-year-old television personality created the Judge Judy Sheindlin Honors Scholars program. The program will identify ten outstanding women with excellent credentials as well as demonstrated financial need and grant them full tuition in school as well as a book allowance. The women will also get a scholarship with Judge Judy’s office for the summer after completing their first year of law school, according to a press release from the school.

“New York Law School has become a welcoming and rewarding institution since I graduated in 1965,” said Justice Judy Sheindlin. “It is a joy for me to be able to support talented women in their pursuit of a career in law. Independent and focused women enrich not only the profession, but the world.

Sheindlin’s commitment to the school goes beyond just graduating herself. Her daughter, Nicole Sheindlin, who currently stars alongside her mother on her IMDb TV show “Judy Justice”, graduated from the same institution in 1993. Her granddaughter, Sarah Rose, is expected to graduate in the spring.

Ahead of the premiere of “Judy Justice” in November, Sheindlin concluded a historic 25-year streak on her Emmy-winning series “Judge Judy” in September. The show has been the number one program in first-run syndication for 12 consecutive seasons.

The ability to give back to her old school is a bit full for her for a while, given that she previously led a much more modest life right after finishing school. Speaking to People in November, she recalled her humble beginnings before hitting hard on TV.
