Julian Edelman bets $ 100,000 Buccaneers, Patriots to meet at Super Bowl

Julian Edelman bets $ 100,000 Buccaneers, Patriots to meet at Super Bowl

Julian Edelman expects to see two familiar faces in Super Bowl 56.

Edelman shared on his Instagram a video of him calling his parents to tell them he had bet $ 100,000 on the Patriots to meet the Buccaneers at the Super Bowl this year. His mom said she didn’t care about the cost of the bet, and just said he should share it with her.

Her father was less enthusiastic.

“Did you put $ 100,000 on that?” His father asked. “It was silly.

“I’ll call you back. I’m not angry. I don’t agree. Goodbye.”

The money doesn’t come from Edelman’s career gains in the field. Instead, he said on Twitter earlier that he received $ 100,000 from Wynnbet, an online bookmaker, for the promotion. He used all that money instead to bet on a bet of $ 50,000 for the Patriots to reach the Super Bowl and $ 50,000 for the Buccaneers to meet them there.

According to his tweet, this bet would net him $ 545,000. Wynnbet listed the Patriots as having +750 Super Bowl chances and the Buccaneers as +340.

It’s a clash that would likely warrant conflicting feelings on Edelman’s part. The former Kent State quarterback won three Super Bowl rings in New England catching assists from Tom Brady and receiving calls from Bill Belichick.

Edelman retired after the 2020 season, ending his career with 620 receptions for 6,822 yards, 36 touchdowns.

If Edelman had decided to pay the bet with his career money, he would have a lot of money to make. According to Spotrac, Edelman won just north of $ 44 million during his 12 seasons with the Patriots.
