Star Jones joins Fox’s “Divorce Court” as a judge from September. She will preside over all matters brought to mediation, ranging from legal divorce proceedings to other domestic disputes.
“We were very fortunate to have exceptionally talented judges at the helm of the Divorce Court,” said Stephen Brown, executive vice president of programming and development for Fox First Run and Fox Television.
He continued, “Starting next season, Star Jones will bring her life experiences, her knowledge as a lawyer and her powerful personality to this legendary bench. She aspires to make the show more meaningful, more interactive and more impactful. for couples and we can’t wait. “

Jones presided over her own tribunal in 1994’s “Jones & Jury”. The show was canceled after a year, but she became the first black person and woman to serve as an adjudicator on television.
“Before being the legal correspondent for NBC News covering high-profile trials and conducting exclusive interviews in prison, I spent six years in a Brooklyn courtroom as a New York homicide attorney and deputy prosecutor. “Jones said in a statement. “From the start of my television career, my mission has been to serve as a voice for the voiceless; and after more than 30 consecutive years on television and in the home, this remains true.”
She added: “As a fan of television’s longest-running court show, I was honored to be considered to reprise the Divorce court TV bench, following in the footsteps of three incredible women, Judge Mablean Ephriam, Judge Lynn Toler and Judge Faith Jenkins. I will offer the parts before Divorce court, as well as viewers, a pragmatic approach to the law and a decision driven by my proven legal expertise, compassion and empathy, personal experiences and hard-earned common sense. “
“Divorce Court” is produced by Lincolnwood Productions, distributed by FOX First Run, and Sonja Solomun is the executive director.
